Swimwear Photo Shoot

I was asked to help with a Girls’ Life swimwear photo shoot today, so I woke up early this morning to make it on set by 8:45am. As soon as I arrived, I began unpacking the bins that were loaded with accessories. The photographer was shocked that we had so much for a beach photo shoot, but we explained that bangles, wedges, sunglasses, fedoras, and headphones were all necessary complements for a bathing suit.

Once the accessories were laid out and organized, I met the models and asked them a few questions for blurbs in the magazine. All six models were incredibly sweet, as were the makeup artist and hair stylist. Using 500lbs of sand (that was fun to clean up…), a sunny backdrop, and a large fan, a faux beach was created. The blasting of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” through the studio also helped create the illusion of a tropical vacation, but the dreary weather outside wasn’t so convincing.

Surprisingly, we finished much earlier than expected, so now I’m enjoying my lazy Sunday at home. It was such a fun morning, even if I was technically working!

  1. Ohh love the accessories table- I’m surprised the photographer didn’t realize how essential that stuff is for the shots! Glad it went well and yay for getting out early- pretty sure that basically never happens!

  2. Your job seems so cool! Looks like you covered everything.

I usually abstain from beach accessories, only b/c I’m such a dolphin that I know everything would be water damaged within .05 seconds.

I hope the shoot went fabulously!
