Starstruck by the Olsen Twins

Last night, my family and I went to Jen’s house for an early dinner. Jen just got back from a trip to Germany and Paris, so we hadn’t seen her in a few weeks. Though she only lives about 20 minutes away, we rarely go to her place—she usually comes to us since it can be difficult to orchestrate six people. After eating a homemade meal—steak, two different kinds of pasta salad, and potatoes—we chatted for a few hours with Jen and her roommate, Tanya, while watching an old episode of The Voice.

I hadn’t been to my internship in two weeks, so rather than dreading having to work on President’s Day, I was actually excited to go in to the office this morning. I spent the majority of my time moderating comments on the website; a few days a week, it’s my responsibility to read, approve, and reply to comments. Being that Girls’ Life magazine is geared towards middle school-aged girls, I receive a lot of questions about boys. Nearly every comment is a variation of “I have a crush on this guy, but I don’t know if he likes me…” It’s hard to give age-appropriate advice at times, but it’s also fun to calm the nerves of a shy, yet boy-crazy 13 year old.

Once I finished moderating, I worked on a post outlining my experience at Fashion Week. I love that I’m able to share my experience with readers and write about a great topic. I uploaded photos from New York City onto my Facebook account, but I also wanted to post some of my favorites here.

J.Crew’s collection is always swoon-worthy—not only because it’s so wearable, but also because it is styled so beautifully. I wanted everything!

I met India de Beaufort before the Emerson show and she was so down-to-earth. She had me laughing the entire time that I was talking to her.

How cool are these heels? To showcase Mercedes-Benz’s newest paint colors for 2013, a shoe was designed for each swatch.

I happened to be standing next to Mary-Kate and Ashley before the J.Mendel show and knew that they had arrived even before the photographers. Considering they were hiding in a dark corner behind security, I didn’t talk to them. Instead, I acted as if I didn’t know who they were…because it’s not like they are two nearly identical twins who have been famous since they were in diapers or anything.

Even though I saw them last season, it was still surreal to be standing two feet away from the Olsen twins. I squealed (inside) as I eavesdropped on their conversation and discreetly stared at them.

Have you ever met/seen a celebrity? Were you starstruck? The Olsen twins were the only two famous people that had me starstruck!

  1. Great pics! I love how Mercedes had the heels display! I used to love a lot of the Phillies players when I was younger, and I was so starstruck when I had the opportunity to be in a picture with my favorite player (when I was 12?)! I also saw Bradley Cooper from a distance when he was filming in Philly, and I was pretty starstruck then, too!

  2. Fabulous pictures!! And *swoon* Nigel Barker. I’ve met a couple “smaller” celebrities, not worth mentioning. I saw Hugh Grant in an airport when I was coming from Europe…and a few months ago I interviewed Bill Nye The Science Guy (not a huge celebrity, but a total staple of my childhood 🙂 )

  3. I’ve seen a few celebs at movie premieres and my biggest (purposeful) run-in was with Lindsay Lohan. She made a horrrrrible movie (I Know Who Killed Me) in San Luis Obispo, where I went to school. My sophomore year, my roommates and I went to be extras in the movie’s football scene and afterwards, we swore we saw her get into a black Escalde. So, we followed it. And it was her. She went into her hotel’s lobby and shopped – we followed. We didnt ask for a picture because it was a little surreal and we clearly were dressed in “extra” clothes (school colors blue & white). I’d be totally starstruck if Mary-Kate and Ashley were around! Good job keeping your cool, you’re a pro 🙂

    • Hahahaha, best story EVER! I once followed Matt Nathanson but stopped following him once I realized he was on his way to another state…I couldn’t exactly justify that. I saw Lindsay Lohan last season and she was definitely an interesting character to see in person…

  4. Holy Smokes! I cannot believe that you were able to play it so cool in front of the Olsen twins. I am pretty sure I would have said something incredibly lame. You saw so many amazing celebrities!!!

I also want those heels! Mercedes is brilliant! What a cool campaign!

  5. My dear,
I found your blog by chance, while peeking others and I decided to check it out! I’m glad I did it, because I am really delighted with yours. It’s beautiful, well structured, interesting, sweet amazing [probably your own qualities right?] and it has completely got me hooked. I think we’re going to get along just fine! 😉
I’d like to invite you to follow each other. I’d be very pleased.
I wish you lots of success and will surely come back often
